Understanding How Ultherapy® Works

Ultratherapy seamless health.png

Using the right Ultherapy® technique for the right patient is the key to avoiding complications. Using this technique correctly helps to treat multiple layers of tissue, which can help to reduce side effects such as skin rashes and bruising. In addition, this treatment can also reduce pain, swelling, and even redness.

Treatment Times

Depending on the area of the face being treated, treatment times for Ultherapy® can range from 30 to 90 minutes. Some areas, such as the neck and chest, take less time to complete.

Ultherapy® is a non-invasive procedure that targets the deepest layers of skin to stimulate collagen production. This process can result in tighter skin and an improved appearance. It can also eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, which can reduce the appearance of aging.

Before undergoing Ultherapy®, you should ensure that you are free from skin infections, allergies, and other medical conditions. Your doctor can help you determine whether you are a candidate for the procedure. If you are not, you may want to consider lasers instead. Lasers are a great option for certain skin conditions, such as wrinkling, but they do not target the deepest layers of the skin.

Targets Multiple Layers of Tissue

Ultherapy® is a non-surgical procedure that uses ultrasound technology to target multiple layers of tissue in the skin. It aims to stimulate the body's natural response to healing. This response is called neocollagenesis and results in new collagen production. It also helps to improve skin elasticity and reduce fine lines and wrinkles.

Compared to laser treatments, which typically target the superficial layers of the skin, Ultherapy® can target the deeper layers. The ultrasound energy stimulates the body to build new collagen in the underlying layers of the skin, which then helps to restore skin elasticity.

Ultherapy® works by using micro-focused ultrasound energy to target three specific depths of the skin. It can reach the fibromuscular layer, the deepest layer of the skin, and the dermis, which is the layer just beneath the surface.

Side Effects

During Ultherapy, patients can experience minor swelling or numbness. These are normal and temporary and do not affect the overall results of the treatment.

During the procedure, patients may also experience a tingling sensation. This is not painful and may last for up to two weeks, and is an indicator that the collagen-building process has started.
