Neuromodulators: Botox®, Dysport™ and Xeomin® Treatment

As we age, our skin undergoes several changes that result in increased lines and wrinkles.

Neuromodulator treatments like Botox®, Dysport™ and Xeomin® work by relaxing the muscles underneath the skin. Movement of the muscles under your skin cause lines and wrinkles to develop.

Treatment with Botox®, Dysport ™or Xeomin® minimizes current wrinkles, and prevents the creation of further wrinkles, to create a smoother and refreshed appearance. Botox®, Dysport™and Xeomin® are all Health Canada approved brands which are approved to reduce dynamic wrinkles of the face.

What are Neuromodulators?

Botox® and Dysport™ and Xeomin® all belong to a class of medications known as neuromodulators. They have been used to treat facial wrinkles, excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis), bruxism (grinding of teeth), and migraines.

These treatments work by temporarily blocking the signals to muscles causing them to contract. This results in fewer noticeable lines and wrinkles. When a Neuromodulator is administered by an experienced professional, the treatment is highly effective and safe.

What is the Differences between Botox® and Dysport™ and Xeomin®?

Botox® and Dysport™ and Xeomin® are different brands of botulinum toxin A. Although the products all contain the same active ingredients, they have slightly different characteristics. During your consultation the NP treating you will discuss their unique properties and discuss which is best for you to achieve the best results.

How are Neuromodulators Administered?

Botox®, Dysport™ and Xeomin® are administered by injection using a very thin needle to avoid any pain, bruising or swelling. The products are injected directly into the muscle tissue and takes several days to take full effect. Maximal benefit is typically seen after two weeks*(see disclaimer).
These non-surgical wrinkle treatments are most used to target muscles in the frown, around the eyes and other areas of the face. Injections have also proven effective in controlling hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), reducing grinding of the teeth (Bruxism). The Seamless Health NP will customize a treatment plan for your concerns.

How long does the treatment take?

Treatment with Botox®, Dysport™ or Xeomin® typically takes only several minutes. Prior to treatment you will have a medical consultation with our Nurse Practitioner, during which she can also answer any questions you might have. On average an appointment for consultation and injection takes 30-45 minutes. As with any medical procedure performed at Seamless Health and Medical Aesthetics your safety and aesthetic outcome are our utmost concern.

Who Should not have Botox®, Dysport™ and Xeomin® Treatments?

These treatments are elective. They should not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women, as well as people who have had a previous allergic reaction to the drug or any of its ingredients. Anyone with a serious neurological, neuromuscular or immunological disease will need to consult with the Nurse Practitioner to determine their ability to undergo treatment. We do not treat individuals who are unwell or currently receiving antibiotic therapy.

Can People tell if I’ve had Botox® and Dysport™ or Xeomin® treatment?

No one should be able to tell that you’ve had treatment, but they may notice that you look more refreshed, relaxed, and youthful.

How long do Botox® and Dysport™ or Xeomin® treatments last?

Results are not permanent. The muscles that were treated will lose their ability to contract and your frown lines will smoothen in several days.

These muscles will temporarily be affected for 3-4 months, after which they will slowly begin to work again.
